"Everything happens for a reason"

Starting last fall I have seen a string of clients that arrived in various stages of disrepair: frightened, angry, social outcasts yet in the right situation, extremely well trained and obedient - Many of these "geeks" without means to a positive end wind up here as their 'last chance'. Many of these dogs have been through one or more levels of obedience, yet fail to function like a 'normal' dog in new situations.

Folks who've been out to the farm have been surprised at my disregard for group obedience classes. An unconventional perspective by industry standards.

Grandpa used to tell me if you get kicked in the head by a horse enough times you're bound to learn how to duck sooner or later... The Human animal is just too damn busy to - learn to be still - We'll be taking interested participants through a whole new type of Group Lesson. Not obedience training, not agility, not flyball, not herding but: Dog Raising Classes. You're dog won't be asked to do anything at all, no walking in circles or slap-happy clapping to get a spunky "recall' - those things aren't important - off the start. A baby must learn to roll over before it learns to crawl, and so on. Our dogs need the same time and respect that we give other creatures in acclimating to a forgein world - their world doesn't include endless streams of unfamiliar dogs walking through their 'turf'... nor do they lay relaxed in rush hour traffic...but with proper 'rearing' they can come darn close. Once you've raised them and don't get me wrong Age isn't a factor, nor previous training - this is a dog 'raising class' that teaches owners Dog language and Etiquette, so that we can effectively provide an environment and experiences that will help minimize natural fears and forge a stronger more trusting bond with our four-legged pals.

If you think you'd be interested in partaking in a new six week one hour, once a week - imaginary "pack" huddle send us an email or use the new handy dandy online appointment form! Dates and full info to follow on the services page.
