After less than a week of it's 'release' - the upcoming Life-skills group lessons are half full! We're capping the group size at 10 dogs. An observer rate is available for those folks with dogs not ready to enter into a group setting or interested members from enrolled dog's family (see Services page).

It's going to be a fun time! Register quick to save your spot.

Many thanks to Joanna Petit for her great photo's from last weekend's final "loose leash" class!

I guess it's time for a wee update for the fledgling 'blog'...

All the rehab boys are doing great - the bully girl is now a real charmer so she doesn't count as a rehab anymore (in my mind anyway).

The old food possessive retriever Ty - is still gaining ground. Rather than standing and daring you to take his food away - when he 'forgets' his manners and growls he tries to get away with his slip up by taking his chicken to a neutral corner and hopes I didn't hear him. Last night he gave his growling another 'go' and when the cavalry came in - Rue the devil pup and myself - he relinquished his precious supper with the slightest grumble after being told to 'git'...Rue had a tiny taste of the bird and when Ty had another 'last chance" he humbly took his chicken to his bed and laid down to eat it with Rue watching from 3 ft. away...whew! it's always darkest before the dawn...

Another wonderful blog was brought to my attention. Joanna is a great writer and the link to her blog is: http://uponhaliburtonhill.blogspot.com/2010/04/dog-psychology.html

Get out there and enjoy the sun!

Our new web server IPAGE continues to be impressive! Their handy tools have allowed me to add a little booking form on the 'online' page!

The house full of Rehab's continue to wend their way back to Dog-normalcy. Some quicker than others! The big American Bulldog has made a few baby step toward learning to trust - but for all intents and purposes it's like watching a glacier melt.

This weekend is the year's first Dog's Breakfast - Loose Leash. come on! someone sign up using this new form okay!

"When are you going to do another one of those leash pulling classes?"

Thanks for reminding me Jo! Okay, So here goes!

Saturday April 24th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
  for:

"Loose Leash" Dog's Breakfast
For many pet owners the decision of when, where and why to physically
control their pet with a leash can be the catalyst to a vast array of
behavioural issues. A little piece of rope and the seemingly unrelated
issues surrounding it will be on the Breakfast plate. The “party favour” leaving with guests this morning will be: a slack leash, perhaps even some rested shoulders!

Preregistration required:  250.929.3757 or email or visit Dunkin Dogs on the corner of the Trans Canada highway and Cowichan Bay Road/Cobble Hill road.
A 'follow up' class/test will be held the next weekend May 1st, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

Cost: 40.00/person

As with any of our events, Pinch collars aren't welcome (I've got enough discarded ones to use as props thanks!). All you'll need is a good sturdy buckle or martingale type collar and a leash - at least two meters or more long.

Hope to see you there!!

What a spring!! 03/31/2010

We've got rehab dogs in from all ends of the island and they aren't getting prettier the more they come that's for sure!!

Coming tomorrow is a gorgeous American Bulldog - who had the pleasure of meeting the 'Boss' right off the bat...and the lil' guy helped get Mr. Bulldog's mind off of chewin' me a new arse rather quickly...Once I figure out how , I'll be adding some footage of the hound with some 'background' video of his file to show how trainers that only have the 'book' to go by, often times make critical errors in trying to correct problems that dogs have - in some cases making things worse.

Another one of those things I swore I'd never do - yet, here we are!

Welcome All - to our new look website.  We still have the old site up for the time being you can find all the old run on articles here.

This spring we had some visitors from the past from good old Tinsel Town. Action Animals (Gerry Therrien) were filming up-island and in Duncan with their Cougar "Levis" - It was a great reminder of why we started doing this in the first place.

Coming up in April I've set aside the weekend of April 17th and 18th to offer a Weekend Clinic. It will commence each day at 9 a.m. and run til 3 p.m.. These clinics effectively provide owners with insights into Canine perspectives and helps open the doors to a fuller more enjoyable life with current dogs you have or any future ones you will have. To apply for the course send me an email or call and we'll fill you in on the details! Weekend cost: 285.00

Requests have also started pouring in for another round of 'Dog's Breakfasts' I'll post those dates shortly!

Hope you like the new look! Let us know what you think!
